Ben Nevis

The highest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis at 1345m is a very popular walk. The most popular starting point (and the safest!) is from the car park at the Visitor Centre where the walk begins by crossing the bridge over the river. The walk is quite straightforward (in good weather), but is quite the uphill slog all the way to the summit. There is a good path all the way, but care must be taken in bad weather, as it is possible to lose your bearings with steep drops higher up, which is we only advise attempting it in good weather. We have had guests compete the walk in anything from 2-12 hours. Take plenty of layers of clothing, water and food as well. The return is via the same route and the bridge is a welcome sight, but the Ben Nevis Inn may lure you in for a welcome beer or something to eat, rather than immediately heading over the bridge.
