Creag Meagaidh

This is our favourite walk, not short at 8 miles there and back, but not tough either, with just the most fantastic view and picnic spot when you arrive at the lochan

Craig Meagaidh is our favourite walk. It’s a 30 mile drive to get to the walk from Balcarres, but well worth it. Parking is in the nature reserve car park. Take the track up past some buildings and continue uphill, ignoring the sign for Cairn Liath. The track gradually bends around to the left and levels off following the valley around. The cliffs of Coire Ardaire will gradually come into view. Keep following the path and the Alt Coire Ardaire, the lochan comes into view at the last moment. Sit down and enjoy a picnic and just take in the views and the peaceful location before making your way back to the car park.
